You know that friend who corrects everyone's facts at the bar? Time to put them on the spot. Trivia turns the classic quiz into a party game: nail the answer and you're safe, blow it and you drink. Simple, loud, and weirdly educational.
Cold Ones has a full Trivia game built in, completely free: 750 real questions across 10 categories, from Sports to Pop Culture. No ads, no login, and it even works offline.
What is Trivia?
Trivia is the pub quiz's chaotic little sibling. Instead of scorecards and prizes, there's one phone, a table full of friends, and a penalty for getting it wrong. The questions aren't rocket science, but three rounds in, "What is the powerhouse of the cell?" suddenly feels like a PhD defense.
In Cold Ones, every question is multiple choice with four possible answers, so even a wild guess has a fighting chance. The 10 categories cover Sports, Science & Nature, History, Geography, Movies & TV, Music, Food & Drink, General Knowledge, Gaming & Tech, and Pop Culture. Everyone gets a moment to shine and a moment to be humbled.
Rules: how to play Trivia as a drinking game
- Sit in a circle and put one phone in the middle. Loser of rock-paper-scissors goes first.
- The player to your right reads the question and all four answer options out loud.
- Lock in your answer. No googling, no lifelines, no "wait, read it again" for the fifth time.
- Right answer: you're safe, and you get to hand a sip to anyone at the table. Wrong answer: take a sip yourself. That's the classic penalty.
- Pass the phone to the next player and keep going until the brains or the drinks run out.
No app? The format works with trivia cards or questions you write yourselves. And every round works alcohol-free too: swap sips for water, points, or a silly forfeit like doing your next answer in an accent.
Why play Trivia in Cold Ones?
- 750 questions in 10 categories, so you won't see repeats for a very long time.
- Completely free, and no ads butting in between rounds.
- No login, no account. Open the app and play.
- Works offline: cabin trips, beach days, and basement bars included.
- Four languages: English, German, Spanish, and French, each with its own native questions.
- Trivia is one of 7 party games in the app. When the quiz is done, Never Have I Ever, Truth or Dare, and Paranoia are one tap away, with Hot & Spicy and Crazy modes for later in the night.
Tips to keep it fun
- Team battle: big group? Split into two teams and alternate questions. Losing team drinks together, which is somehow more fun.
- Call your shot: declare "expert" before hearing a question to double the stakes, two sips to give or two to take.
- The professor rule: anyone who confidently explains a wrong answer takes an extra sip for the performance.
- Steal round: if the player answers wrong, the first person to shout the right answer hands out a sip.
