What is Paranoia?
Paranoia is a whisper-based party game. One player secretly reads a question like "Who is most likely to laugh at serious moments?" and whispers it to their neighbor. The neighbor answers out loud – with a name. Just a name, nothing else.
Now the person who got named has a choice: stay in the dark forever, or take a sip to have the question revealed. That gap between hearing your name and knowing why is the whole game. The paranoia is very real.
Paranoia rules: how to play
You can play Paranoia anywhere – all you need is a group and some questions. Here's the classic setup:
- Sit in a circle with 3 or more players. The bigger the group, the messier it gets.
- Player one whispers a "Who is most likely to…" question to the player on their left.
- That player answers out loud with the name of someone in the round. No explanation allowed.
- The named person decides: take a sip (the classic penalty) and the question gets revealed to everyone – or pass and never find out.
- The player who answered becomes the next whisperer. Keep it moving around the circle.
No drinks on the table? Swap sips for a silly forfeit or a point system – Paranoia works completely alcohol-free and stays just as chaotic.
